Trent Richardson benched by Colts, replaced by Donald Brown

The young running back has been benched after failing to make an impact for the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts have benched running back Trent Richardson for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Richardson was acquired by the Colts from the Browns in September in exchange for a first-round draft pick in 2014, and was expected to add a balanced dimension to the Colts offensive attack with Andrew Luck under center. The young running back has been a stark disappointment, however, continuing to struggle to find running room in the NFL no matter which team he's playing for.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 draft, Richardson has just just 59 total rushing yards the past four games combined, including just two yards on five carries in a loss to the Rams in Week 10. Richardson is expected to backup for running back Donald Brown, who had 80 yards on 14 carries against the Titans on Nov. 14.

The 7-4 Colts are fighting to hold onto the AFC South lead and could all but seal the division title with a win over the 5-6 Titans on Sunday.
