The Redskins may see Kirk Cousins under center down the stretch this season. Owner Dan Snyder will not a stop a possible benching of Robert Griffin III by head coach Mike Shanahan, according to the Washington Post (via NFL.com). Shanahan had mentioned to reporters following Sunday's loss to the Chiefs that he was considering a possible shutdown of the second-year passer.

Griffin has taken a lot of hits this season and has dealt with speculation that he is not fully healthy. Along with his health, the quarterback and head coach have seemingly been at odds since the offseason. Griffin was benched in the blowout loss against the Chiefs.
On Sunday, a report surfaced that Shanahan was willing to quit the team last January, which he did not immediately deny. The Redskins are also reportedly looking for ways to get rid of the head coach and not pay the remainder of his contract.
The Redskins traded a package of high picks to select Griffin with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Shanahan has been the Redskins head coach since 2010.
