Redskins vs. Falcons 2013 picks and predictions: Atlanta favored by experts

The Atlanta Falcons are favored by the majority of experts when it comes to their Week 15 matchup against the Washington Redskins.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins will take on the Atlanta Falcons in a Week 15 matchup on Sunday. Both teams are 3-10 and struggling on the season. Washington is pondering shutting down quarterback Robert Griffin III, as the team is not in the playoff race and Griffin seems to take an awful lot more punishment than other quarterbacks these days.

Atlanta is well out of the playoff race as well, which is shocking given how the Falcons were expected to be right back in the playoff hunt after making it to the NFC Championship Game last season. But the Falcons have had significant injuries at the wide receiver position, and the defense has been a mess. Apparently, that translates to three wins.

Still, on paper, the Falcons seem to be the better team. When it comes to SB Nation’s panel of six experts, that’s plenty clear, as all six -- Ryan Van Bibber, Joel Thorman, Jason Chilton, Stephen White, David Fucillo and Matt Ufford -- believe the Falcons will win at home.

That home-field advantage might have something to do with it, or the fact that Griffin may sit out the game. Either way, the results are almost echoed over at CBS Sports. Of their eight experts, seven are picking the Falcons to win, with Jason La Canfora being the lone dissenter.
