Saints vs. Rams 2013 results: St. Louis stuns New Orleans, 27-16

The Rams jumped out to a huge early lead and never looked back, delivering a blow to the Saints’ divisional title hopes.

The St. Louis Rams smothered the New Orleans Saints, 27-16, playing spoilers in Week 15. The Saints drop to 10-4 and lost a chance to move ahead in the NFC South race.

It wasn't a good start for Drew Brees. He threw an interception on the Saints' first drive, and the Rams turned it into a touchdown with an impressive 31-yard catch-and-run by Cory Harkey. Brees tossed a second pick in the end zone and St. Louis turned it into another score. Kellen Clemens marched the Rams all the way down the field and hooked up with Lance Kendricks to give St. Louis a quick 14-0 lead.

Jeff Fisher kept taking it to the Saints, calling a surprise onside kick in the second quarter. The Rams recovered and got a field goal out of it. They extended their lead even further with a 40-yard touchdown run by Zac Stacy. Brees drove the Saints down to the red zone at the end of the first half, but a potential touchdown got called back by a penalty. A field goal attempt was blocked and the Rams went into halftime with a stunning 24-3 lead over New Orleans.

Brees' poor day continued in the third quarter when he got strip-sacked by Robert Quinn. There wasn't much scoring done until halfway through the fourth quarter. The Saints finally found the end zone when Brees leaped over a pile at the goal line, but the two-point conversion failed. Marques Colston grabbed a touchdown to pull the Saints within 11 points, and they got the onside kick back, but failed to make a field goal, sealing the win for the Rams.

Fantasy studs and duds

Zac Stacy gashed the Saints defense with 133 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Jimmy Graham was held quiet by the Rams defense, finishing with just two catches for 25 yards.
