Saints vs. Panthers 2013 odds: Carolina narrowly favored at home
The Carolina Panthers are narrow favorites over the New Orleans Saints for Week 16.
The Carolina Panthers are set to take on the New Orleans Saints in an important NFC South matchup in Week 16 on Sunday. Carolina (10-4) is coming off a 30-20 victory over the New York Jets in Week 15, but fell to the Saints in the first of two matchups the week prior. New Orleans (10-4) failed to capitalize on the victory over Carolina by getting dominated by the St. Louis Rams in Week 15, and now will have to face its rivals on the road.
It’s no secret that the Saints, who dominated the Panthers to the tune of 31-13 from the comfort of their own Superdome, are a different team on the road. New Orleans sports a 3-4 record on the road, and an umblemished 7-0 mark at home. Carolina is 6-1 at home, and favored to even the season series on Sunday.
Carolina opened up as 2.5-point favorites for the matchup early in the week. The line moved further in their favor throughout the week, with most sites settling with Carolina as the 3-point favorite, though one site went as far as 3.5 points, according to OddsShark.
The odds makers likely consider this matchup close to even, but the home-field advantage has to swing things slightly in Carolina’s favor. The over/under for the matchup opened up at 47 points. That total has gone under in all five of the Saints’ past five games, and in six of Carolina’s last seven.
