NFL roundup: Will Hill arrested, Mark Barron out and more

New York Giants safety Will Hill was arrested on Friday in relation to child support payments. Hill has served two separate four-game suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse and performance-enhancing drug policies, and has had multiple off-the-field issues as well. He has at least four children, but it's unclear which child is involved with the current situation.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Mark Barron will miss Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Barron was initially listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, but he did not travel with the team on Saturday, confirming his status. This will be the first game Barron has missed in his career, as he played in every game his rookie season and every game thus far this season.

The Minnesota Vikings placed tight end John Carlson on injured reserve on Saturday. Carlson is dealing with a concussion, the third reported head injury of his NFL career. He sustained the injury in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens. Carlson is apparently considering retirement, which isn't surprising given how much controversy there is regarding concussions in the NFL.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess was placed on the non-football injury list on Saturday. Bess will be out for the remainder of the season. The official reason is that Bess is dealing with a "serious" personal matter. He's been distracted by an off-the-field issue related to his family for much of the season.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will be the NFL's iron man once Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher calls it a career. Witten has played in 169 consecutive games, having missed just one game in his NFL career. He hasn't been out of the starting lineup since 2006. Fletcher has played in 254 consecutive games but is "99 percent certain" he'll call it a career after this season.
