Joe Flacco says knee injury not to blame for Ravens’ performance
Baltimore’s quarterback isn’t pointing to pain as a reason for his lackluster performance.
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco played an especially poor game, completing only 22 of 38 passes and tossing a pair of interceptions. Despite playing with an ailing MCL that was injured the previous Monday night against the Detroit Lions, Flacco didn't use the injury as an excuse, per the Carroll County Times:
"It didn’t affect me. I would have liked to have played better, but the brace had nothing to do with anything," Flacco said. "I fell down moving out of the pocket to my left. I think my knee’s a little bit bent when I’m taped up, and I just kind of misstepped and just totally whiffed on the turf.
"It was just really unathletic, but the brace didn’t affect anything. My knee felt great."
Flacco has had a very poor season in general after signing a $120 million contract this offseason. The Super Bowl champ has thrown 18 touchdowns against 19 interceptions and completed just 58.9 percent of his attempts.
Now at 8-7, the Ravens still control their own playoff fate. With a win this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium, they will secure the No. 6 seed and play either the Bengals, Indianapolis Colts or New England Patriots in the wild card round.
