Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith will likely miss the regular season finale in Week 17. Coach Ron Rivera told reporters that Smith is "week-to-week" but is doubtful for the final game of the regular season, according to SportsXchange's Bill Voth. Smith suffered a knee injury in the Panthers 17-13 win over the Saints on Sunday.

Smith went down early in the Week 16 games against New Orleans. He ran a route but fell to the ground in pain without any contact and grabbed his knee. He returned to the game for one more snap but left the field again immediately after the play. Smith is the Panthers number one receiving option and has produced 64 receptions for 745 yards and four touchdowns this season.

The Panthers have clinched a playoff spot and are poised to win the division, if they can get a victory on the road against the Falcons. Quarterback Cam Newton will have to rely on the likes of Brandon LaFell and Ted Ginn Jr. if Smith misses the game.
