Steve Smith injury update: Panthers WR is doubtful for Week 17
The Panthers may be without wide receiver Steve Smith to close the regular season.

Smith went down early in the Week 16 games against New Orleans. He ran a route but fell to the ground in pain without any contact and grabbed his knee. He returned to the game for one more snap but left the field again immediately after the play. Smith is the Panthers number one receiving option and has produced 64 receptions for 745 yards and four touchdowns this season.
The Panthers have clinched a playoff spot and are poised to win the division, if they can get a victory on the road against the Falcons. Quarterback Cam Newton will have to rely on the likes of Brandon LaFell and Ted Ginn Jr. if Smith misses the game.
