Corey Peters injury: Atlanta DT out for game against 49ers with Achilles injury

The Falcons defense took another hit on “Monday Night Football.”

Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters left the team's game on Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers with an Achilles injury and will not return. It's not yet known whether he will miss any extended period of time.

Peters has been one of Atlanta’s top defensive players this season. He has four sacks and has been one of the few bright spots on the Falcons defensive line.

Meanwhile, Peters will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The injury could be a tough break for the defensive tackle who could be in line for a nice payday in the offseason. This injury will be one to monitor moving forward. Peria Jerry is the next man up on Atlanta's depth chart to fill Peters' shoes.
