NFC South injury report, Week 16: Saints S Kenny Vaccaro done for season, Panthers WR Steve Smith suffers knee injury

The NFC South suffered a few big losses in Week 16.

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The NFC South suffered three major injuries in Week 16. The Falcons, Panthers and Saints all suffered injuries to key members of their teams. While some injuries were more severe than others, all three looked very serious on the field.

Saints rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro was lost for the season with a broken ankle that he suffered against the Panthers. Vaccaro was among the most productive players on the Saints defense this season and was drafted in the first round of this year's draft.

The Panthers lost veteran wide receiver Steve Smith in the same game. He suffered a knee injury that will likely keep him out of Week 17’s matchup against the Falcons. Smith suffered a sprained PCL in his left knee on a non-contact drill.

The Falcons lost defensive tackle Corey Peters on Monday night. Peters suffered an Achilles injury against the 49ers in the Falcons loss. It unclear the severity of the injury.
