Emmanuel Sanders injury: Steelers WR avoids serious damage to knee

The Steelers will not lose wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to a major injury.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Steelers have a dodged a bullet in their wide receiver room. An MRI revealed that Emmanuel Sanders suffered no major damage to his knee on Sunday against the Packers, according to ESPN's Scott Brown. Sanders was injured in the first half of the game. He sustained a sprain to his lateral meniscus.

Despite avoiding any major injuries to his knee, Sanders is questionable for the Steelers season finale against the Browns. Sanders has appeared in 15 games this season for Pittsburgh and has collected 65 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns, all of which are career highs. He is the Steelers number two option on passing downs and the starting kick returner for Pittsburgh.

The Steelers have suffered several injuries to their offense this season. The team has lost two starting centers and a left tackle to injury. Tight end Heath Miller also missed several games while recovering from a knee injury.
