Eagles vs. Cowboys 2013 odds and lines: Philadelphia favored to win, secure NFC East title

The Philadelphia Eagles are favored to best the Dallas Cowboys in a Week 17 matchup.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Dallas Cowboys are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a pivotal Monday NFC East matchup. Dallas is 8-7 on the season and faces a win-and-in situation in Week 17 for the third consecutive season. Philadelphia is 9-6 and fighting for the playoffs proper for the first time in years.

Whichever team wins this game wins the NFC East. If the Cowboys win, they'll be tied, but Dallas will hold the tiebreaker. Philadelphia will win the division and hit double digit victories if they end up on top in this one. Dallas was in this situation last year, but fell to the Washington Redskins, and in the same situation the year before that, where they lost to the New York Giants.

If the odds-makers are correct, it’s likely to happen again. Philadelphia opened as narrow favorites, ahead by just 2 points on the books, but the line has widened in their favor most likely due to reports of Tony Romo’s injury. Some books now have the Eagles favored by a whole 7 points, according to OddsShark.

The over/under for the matchup opened at 52.5 points and has been around that for much of the week. That total has gone over in 12 of Philadelphia’s last 18 games, and over in five of Dallas’ last six. The total has gone over in eight of Dallas’ last 11 games at home, and in seven of Philadelphia’s last eight on the road.
