NFL injury report, Week 17: Tony Romo out; Aaron Rodgers will play

Two NFC quarterbacks headline the Week 17 injury report.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers somehow managed to survive without quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he went down with a broken collarbone in Week 9. He missed nearly two months, but the Packers stayed in the race for the NFC North and are a Week 17 win away from the playoffs. The good news is that Rodgers will be back in the starting lineup.

Rodgers received clearance earlier this week and has practiced in full all week long. He will definitely start this week against the Bears, and it's not good news for Chicago.

Tony Romo out

The Cowboys didn't quite get the same good news the Packers did. While Dallas quarterback Tony Romo led a game-winning drive against the Washington Redskins in Week 16 to keep the Cowboys' playoff dreams alive, he did so while playing with a herniated disk. Romo had surgery on Friday morning and will miss the rest of the season. The Cowboys have a decisive game against the Eagles in Week 17 and will start Kyle Orton at quarterback.

Adrian Peterson doubtful

Adrian Peterson played through some pain in Week 16 and it may cost him a chance to play in Week 17. He has not participated in practice all week and is listed as doubtful with a groin injury. The Vikings have no reason to push Peterson with the playoffs out of reach.

Vontaze Burfict questionable

The Cincinnati Bengals will play for seeding on Sunday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens, but Cincy may play without one of its best defensive players in Week 17. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict has not practiced all week after suffering a head injury. He is listed as questionable with a concussion.
