NFL roundup: Randall Cobb activated, Adrian Peterson out and more

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb was activated from short-term injured reserve on Saturday. Cobb has been out of the lineup since Week 6 due to a broken leg. He had 29 catches for 378 yards and two touchdowns prior to his injury. He's expected to play against the Chicago Bears in the team's win-and-in bid for the playoffs on Sunday. It's a big week for the Packers, as they are expected to have quarterback Aaron Rodgers back in the lineup as well.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was downgraded from doubtful to out on the official injury report heading into Week 17. Peterson is dealing with a foot injury that also forced him to miss the teams Week 16 matchup. Peterson has been adamant that he wants to play, but given his offseason spent in recovery last time out and the fact that the Vikings are well out of the playoff race, it wasn't worth the risk.

The New York Jets are likely to keep head coach Rex Ryan, at least according to a report on Saturday. Ryan has widely been considered a coach on the way out, especially given that the Jets missed the playoffs again this season. There are consistent issues on both sides of the ball and the masses felt there should be change. Well, the masses don't make the decisions, so Ryan could have one more shot at things.

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle B.J. Raji has turned down a new contract offer. Raji would have earned $8 million annually, but that wasn't enough, apparently. Raji likely wants to test the open market. He's set to hit free agency in the offseason, and wants to play in a defense that allows him to rush the passer more. He hasn't had a sack since the 2011 season.

New Orleans Saints defensive back Roman Harper could be a cap casualty in the offseason. New Orleans is going to have significant cap issues heading into next season, and with Harper set to count $3.15 million against the cap, he could be on his way out. He's 31 years old and has been injured off and on over the past couple seasons. Lance Moore could also find himself as a cap casualty.
