Jerricho Cotchery injury: Steelers WR hurts shoulder

Cotchery is questionable to return.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery has injured his shoulder and is questionable to return against the Cleveland Browns, the team has announced.

Cotchery came up just short of his second touchdown of the game diving for a pass in the end zone. He landed awkwardly on his right shoulder and was taken off the field.

Cotchery has had a resurgent year in his tenth NFL season. His touchdown catch against the Browns gives him a career-high 10 on the season. In his two previous seasons in Pittsburgh, he had just two touchdown grabs. His previous career high was six in 2006 with the Jets, where he spent his first seven seasons.

Here’s Steelers blog Behind the Steel Curtain lamenting his potential loss:

It’d be a shame if Jerricho Cotchery couldn’t make it back on the field in Pittsburgh’s Week 17 game against Cleveland.

If not for the sake of seeing his amazing 2013 season continue, then to have the chance to receive the standing ovation he deserves.

The Steelers aren’t exactly missing his presence, though as they lead the Browns 17-0. They are still clinging to an outside shot at the playoffs, but need a lot of help in addition to beating the Browns.
