Buccaneers vs. Saints 2013 final score: New Orleans dominates Tampa Bay 42-17

The Saints didn’t let their last chance to clinch a playoff slip away on Sunday.

The New Orleans Saints are heading to the playoffs.

Back-to-back losses heading into the final week of the season left the Saints needing a win to make the postseason. There was never much doubt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, either.

Drew Brees and the Saints' passing attack couldn't be stopped in the first half. Brees threw all four of his touchdown passes before halftime, and four different receivers caught them. Mike Glennon and the Buccaneers put up a fight for a while, but New Orleans was able to run away with the game in the second half. Brees even added a rushing touchdown to finish off Tampa late in the game.

The Saints are now awaiting the result of the Cowboys vs. Eagles game. New Orleans will be the No. 6 seed in the playoffs, and the winner of that matchup will be the No. 3 seed and the Saints’ first opponent in the postseason.

Fantasy studs and duds

Drew Brees threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns. It’s safe to say those fantasy owners still playing in Week 17 enjoyed the production from their quarterback. Brees spread the love around enough so that not too many other Saints were dominant fantasy football performers.

Tiquan Underwood had five catches for 93 yards and a touchdown for the Buccaneers, so he qualifies as a fantasy stud.

Did they cover?

The Saints were favored by 12.5 points, according to Odds Shark. They covered the spread.

What’s next?

New Orleans will head to the postseason to play either the Cowboys or the Eagles on Sunday Night Football.

The Buccaneers’ 2013 season is over.
