The Oakland Raiders placed safety Usama Young on injured reserve with a neck injury on Saturday. Young is the second safety to sustain a serious injury with the Raiders this season. Tyvon Branch has missed significant time with a broken fibula. Young had played in all 12 games this season and had 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception. That leaves Brandon Ross and Charles Woodson at safety. Ross was the starter before being benched in favor of Young.
NFL news roundup: Usama Young to injured reserve, Melvin Ingram could make debut
Oakland Raiders safety Usama Young was placed on injured reserve, Melvin Ingram could make his season debut and more you might have missed from Saturday in the NFL.

Here’s what else you might have missed from Saturday:
San Diego Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram will likely make his season debut in Week 14. Ingram was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday after a long recovery process from a torn ACL. Ingram sustained that injury in May and has recovered ahead of schedule. The Chargers take on the New York Giants on Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta could be making his season debut against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Pitta hasn't yet been activated from short-term injured reserve, but he's looked solid in practice and the Ravens can activate him prior to Sunday's game with no issue. Pitta suffered a dislocated hip during training camp but seems to have made a full recovery.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was listed as questionable on the team's injury report, but he's expected to play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Palmer missed a lot of practice time this week, leading some to think the Cardinals could turn to backup Drew Stanton. But Arizona is in a playoff race, and Palmer has been playing well of late. Smart money is on him starting.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are unlikely to have any draft picks taken by the NFL for head coach Mike Tomlin's obstruction of Jacoby Jones' path to the end zone during a kick return on Thanksgiving. The league threatened to take draft picks as punishment, but it sounds as though this will not happen unless points become a factor in the playoff tiebreakers. In short: it's never going to happen.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne was ruled out for Monday's game against the Chicago Bears. Claiborne is dealing with a hamstring injury and missed practice after a setback. He went down with the injury in Week 8 and missed two games, but aggravated the injury upon his attempted return in Week 12.
