Quarterback Dennis Dixon will get a chance to play for a coach that maximized his skill set as he has signed a two-year contract to play for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia, the team announced on Thursday. Dixon and Kelly were together at Oregon when Kelly was in charge of the Ducks' fast-paced offensive attack. With Kelly, Dixon put up big numbers and should be familiar with what the coach is looking for.

Dixon isn't going to suddenly jump to the starter's role, as he comes to the Eagles after spending time on Baltimore's practice squad. However, he will have a great opportunity to make the 53-man roster and provide a player's perspective on how to effectively run Kelly's offense.
The fifth-year quarterback hasn’t thrown a regular-season pass since 2010. He has attempted just 59 professional throws with just one touchdown and two interceptions.
Even if he doesn't see the field, Dixon will likely be more an asset than most third-string quarterbacks. His style of play falls somewhere between that of Michael Vick and Nick Foles, so he could be of great help to both the quarterbacks in learning the new system.
