Terrell Suggs injury: Ravens LB decides against surgery

It appears surgery wasn’t the only option for Terrell Suggs, as he will be choosing a different recovery route for his right arm.

Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs has elected to forego surgery on his injured right arm in favor of rehabbing the torn biceps back to full strength, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun. Surgery was originally recommended for Suggs, but he had recently sought a second opinion. It appears that opinion was favorable, and Suggs will not have to go through the process of recovering from major surgery.

Suggs was hurt on Dec. 2, but he sat out just one game (the meaningless regular-season finale) and continued to play through the injury as the Ravens made their run to a Super Bowl victory. Suggs played a key role in Baltimore's playoff success, logging 21 tackles and two sacks in the four wins.

That production nearly matched his regular-season stats, when he played in just eight games and amassed 22 tackles and two sacks. That was coming off 2011, when Suggs was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year after grabbing 14 sacks, 70 tackles, and two interceptions.
