NFL Combine 2013: Jets will attempt to shop Tim Tebow

According to sources, the New York Jets will attempt to shop Tim Tebow at the NFL Combine.

New York Jets newly appointed general manager John Idzik will follow up on a busy week of offseason moves by trying to deal backup quarterback Tim Tebow at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

More Jets news at Gang Green Nation

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, the Jets will attempt to shop Tim Tebow at the NFL Combine this weekend. Tebow is set to earn a base salary of $2.6 million in 2013, but it has been thoroughly proven that he is not a fit for Gang Green.

The combine is a large gathering that demands the attendance of the chief decision-makers in this league. It is an opportunity for head coaches and general managers to talk at one of their biggest annual business trips. With all of these personnel executives at the same location over a four-day period, there are plenty of chances to explore outside opportunities.

Rex Ryan and John Idzik should be busy trying to find a suitor for Tebow, and they should be prepared for low compensation. Their main goal should be to remove Tebow from their 53-man roster and come out at least one pick ahead. Jacksonville and New England have emerged as possible destinations for Tebow, so we’ll see if they emerge at the combine this weekend.

If the Jets discover there is no real interest, they could be forced to cut Tim Tebow.

On Tuesday, the team dumped a number of players from the roster in order to clear cap space. Of the notables, linebacker Bart Scott was released, saving the team over $8 million this coming season.
