Chip Kelly and Andy Reid say Nick Foles will stay with Eagles for now

That has led some to believe that the Eagles will be looking to trade Foles this offseason. One obvious landing place would be with former Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City. Both Kelly and Reid were asked about the former Arizona star at the NFL Draft Combine on Thursday.

Kelly downplayed any rumors, saying that everyone will get a chance to “throw the ball” before he decides anything. The new Eagles head man said he still wants to get to know Foles, according to Eagles blog Bleeding Green Nation:

“I wanna coach Nick (Foles). I wanna spend time with him and see him.”

It doesn’t appear that Kelly is eager to unload Foles anytime soon, although the situation may change when training camp rolls around and the quarterback battle becomes clearer.

As for Reid, the NFL frowns upon teams discussing players who are under contract elsewhere. He certainly had that in mind when talking about Foles on Thursday, according to Chiefs blog Arrowhead Pride:

“He’s not available. Nick is the property of the Philadelphia Eagles and they like him.”

Not sure how Foles would feel about being “property,” but he is in fact a member of the Eagles at this moment and it doesn’t appear that he will be traded for the meantime.

Foles appeared in seven games for Reid’s Eagles in 2012. In that time, he completed 61 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and five interceptions. Those numbers are far from spectacular, but are solid for a rookie quarterback nonetheless, especially the accuracy.

At the very least, his performancee was enough for Foles to get a shot to show what he can do in Kelly’s fast-paced offense.
