Recently released wide receiver Steve Breaston may be interested in joining the Pittsburgh Steelers if the opportunity comes up, according to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Breaston could kick-start his career by re-joining Todd Haley in Pittsburgh.

Breaston, who was cut this week by the Kansas City Chiefs, was born in North Braddock, Penn., a mere 15 minutes outside of Pittsburgh:
“Sure, signing with the Steelers is something to think about,” Breaston said. “But more important, I just want to have an opportunity to play and get on the field and get back to winning games and help contribute to that.”

“I know of the Pittsburgh tradition and the winning ways and it would be a great team to be involved with, but for me, it is all about using this process,” Breaston said. “I have to take everything in and see what would be a good fit for me and where I can come in and play.”
The Chiefs cut Breaston to make room under the 2013 salary cap. The move saved the Chiefs $2 million, but they’ll still pay Breaston $3 million next season. Breaston joined the Chiefs with a five-year, $22.5 million contract, but played only two seasons before being cut.
The Steelers might be looking for a wide receiver this offseason if they don't retain free agent Mike Wallace, who is expected to be one of the highest-paid free agent wide receivers on the market.
The Steelers don't have much cap space but might be able to work something out for Breaston, who would be reunited with Todd Haley again if he landed in Pittsburgh. Haley was the head coach in Kansas City in 2011 and the offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals before that.
Neal Coolong at Behind the Steel Curtain thinks Breaston might just need a fresh start:
There’s a certain level of whimsy surrounding the idea of Breaston and Haley being reunited in their native lands, both working to show the Chiefs, one way or another, they were wrong about them. That gives us automatic warm-and-fuzzies thinking he could resurrect his career as a third receiver with the Steelers, and rack up another 50-plus catch, 700-plus yard season, maybe even some kick returns here and there.
Breaston had a disappointing season in 2012, sitting as a healthy scratch for most of the second half of the season. He played in 10 games and caught just seven passes for 74 yards.
In the four seasons before 2012, Breaston caught at least 47 passes and recorded at least 712 yards every year. In his sophomore season in 2008, Breaston caught 77 passes for 1,006 yards and three touchdowns -- his best year as a pro.
