Desmond Bryant arrested, according to report

Desmond Bryant -- the Raiders defensive tackle, not Dez Bryant of the Cowboys -- was reportedly arrested Saturday night in Miami.

Jed Jacobsohn

Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant was arrested Saturday night in Miami.

It’s not exactly clear what the 6’5, 290-pounder did, but his arrest record indicates it was “criminal mischief” resulting in under $1,000 of damage. (It also says he weighs 220 pounds, which probably isn’t true considering his listed weight.) Regardless, it probably isn’t the best move for a player who is a free agent this offseason.

Bryant came on strong towards the end of last season, recording all four of his sacks in December. He’s in his fifth year in the league, and is not under contract after signing a one-year deal with the Raiders last season. He started eight games last year for Oakland after starting a career-high ten the season before.

Bryant isn’t the first guy you’d expect to get arrested - he’s one of the few NFL players to come out of Harvard - and Saturday morning saw a false report from Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that Dez Bryant - the Cowboys wide receiver who has had trouble with the law and team-mandated off-field behavioral rules - was arrested. That led to some confusion:

The Bryant who wasn’t arrested made it clear he was fine in a PG-13 tweet.
