Bears tackle J’Marcus Webb arrested on drug charges

The man protecting Jay Cutler’s backside is in some legal trouble.

Jonathan Daniel

Chicago Bears offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb was jailed on Sunday evening by Pulaski County Sheriff's Department following an arrest for possession of a controlled substance, cannabis, and paraphernalia, according KFVS 12 in Missouri. Webb posted bond and was released. KFVS reports his next court date will come in March.

Webb has started 44 games in his first three seasons with Chicago. He was a seventh-round draft choice of of West Texas A&M back in 2010. He will be entering the final year of a four-year contract in 2013. He made $490,000 this past season, a bargain for a guy protecting a franchise quarterback’s backside.

The 6'7, 333 left tackle was previously most famous for a shoving match with quarterback Jay Cutler back in the team's 2012 Week 2 matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Cutler was unhappy with Webb's pass protection and let him hear it on the sideline, a move that wasn't popular with teammates.

The two did make up eventually, as Cutler tied Webb’s shoe on the field later in the season.
