Broncos sign Louis Vasquez, according to report

The Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with former San Diego Chargers guard Louis Vasquez

Ron Schwane-US PRESSWIRE

The Denver Broncos have signed free agent offensive guard Louis Vasquez to a four-year, $23.5 million deal according to Mike Garafolo; $13 million of the contract is guaranteed money. Vasquez comes over from the division rival Chargers, where he spent the first four years of his career.

Vasquez was considered the second best interior offensive lineman available behind Andy Levitre, who signed with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday. Vasquez will be valuable in helping keep Peyton Manning healthy and upright in the pocket. The Broncos allowed 36 sacks last season. In order to secure Vasquez, the Broncos made him the 10th highest paid guard in the league.

A third-round pick of the Chargers in 2009 out of Texas Tech, Vasquez has started 54 games over his four seasons in the NFL, only missing two games in the last two years. At only 25, he should be a key part of the Denver offensive line for several years to come.
