Chargers sign King Dunlap, according to report

San Diego lost Louis Vasquez on Tuesday, but added to its offensive line by signing former Eagle King Dunlap.

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

The San Diego Chargers added some offensive line depth on Tuesday, agreeing to a deal with free agent tackle King Dunlap, according to a report from Adam Caplan.

Dunlap started 12 games for the Eagles last season, including 11 starts at left tackle. The Chargers had issues at left tackle last season with Jared Gaither and Michael Harris both having issues. Harris started nine games as a rookie, but was one of the lowest graded tackles in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

Dunlap, a seventh round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has experience both as a reserve and a starter. He appeared in 52 games during four seasons with the Eagles, including 19 starts. He won the left tackle job out of training camp and was graded as the 33rd most productive tackle last season according to PFF. Dunlap graded out better in pass protection than as a run blocker. He allowed five sacks while playing 838 snaps.

The acquisition of Dunalp comes after San Diego lost starting guard Louis Vasquez to the Denver Broncos in free agency.
