Nnamdi Asomugha, the now-free agent cornerback released by the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, is meeting with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to reports from CSN Bay Area and ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Nnamdi Asomugha rumors: 49ers reportedly scheduled to host cornerback Thursday
The free agent corner will apparently be in the Bay Area on Thursday to visit last season’s runner-up for the Lombardi Trophy.

The secondary appears to be a major focus for San Francisco with free agency under way, as the team has already met with former Green Bay Packers safety/cornerback Charles Woodson and have a visit lined up with ex-Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas, according to Schefter.
For the 49ers, the defensive backfield likely became an even bigger need after safety Dashon Goldson agreed to a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. Asomugha, at 6'2, 210 pounds, brings size and pedigree to the cover-corner position. Though his previous two seasons with the Eagles were underwhelming, it's hard to believe that Asomugha lost all of the skills that made him a four-time NFL All-Pro over his eight seasons with the Oakland Raiders.
Asomugha, 31, played college ball at California. In 2012, he recorded one interception along with 12 passes defended in Philadelphia.
