Donte Stallworth injury: Football career not in jeopardy, per report

Donte Stallworth will reportedly be able to resume his football career, despite being hospitalized following a hot-air balloon accident on Saturday morning.

Despite being rushed to a Miami hospital on Saturday morning, it appears that Donte Stallworth avoided serious injuries. Stallworth was involved in a hot-air balloon accident early in the day and was hospitalized, but his injuries will not cut his playing career short, according to Shalise Manza Young.

Stallworth suffered burns when his hot-air balloon collided with power lines, but is reportedly in stable condition.

NBC Miami has details of a hot-air balloon accident on Saturday morning -- which is undoubtedly the same hot-air balloon Stallworth and his girlfriend were traveling in.

It appears that the hot air balloon’s passenger basket, which had three adults aboard, crashed into power lines while airborne at Southwest 217th Avenue and Southwest 296th Street, police said.

Police were sent to the scene at about 10:02 a.m.

The two injured passengers were taken by air to Kendall Regional Medical Center’s trauma center following the accident, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

It’s unknown who the third passenger was.

Stallworth was signed by the New England Patriots in 2012, marking his second stint in Foxboro. Stallworth appeared in one game for the Patriots before being placed on injured reserve following New England's Week 14 win over the Houston Texans. Stallworth injured himself on a 63-yard touchdown reception.

Now a free agent, the Patriots reportedly have interest in re-signing Stallworth, but all football-related activities will likely take a back seat in Stallworth’s life until he’s fully recovered.
