Tim Tebow has an AFL contract offer waiting for him

If Tim Tebow is dead set on playing quarterback professionally, he has an offer from the Orlando Predators waiting for him.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

If Tim Tebow wants to be a starting quarterback, he's got a chance waiting for him with the Orlando Predators.

The New York Jets appear they will be releasing Tebow at some point if all efforts to trade him come up short, as it appears they will. Tebow's NFL future would appear to be at a crossroads, but the Arena Football League is out there waiting for him if he chooses to abandon his NFL dreams.

When Tebow was originally traded to the Jets from the Denver Broncos, only two other teams showed any kind of serious interest; the Jacksonville Jaguars and the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams have an entirely new coaching staff now and the new Jaguars general manager has come out and said the team has no interest in Tebow, even if he’s released into the free agent market.

It’s not exactly his hometown team, but the Orlando Predators have a standing contract waiting for the former Florida Gator to return to his home state.

"Tim would certainly want to first exhaust his opportunities in the NFL, but we'd love to have him," Predators owner Brett Bouchy told the Orlando Sentinel. "I think he would definitely improve as a quarterback in our league. Kurt Warner told me once that when he got back to the NFL after playing in the Arena League, the NFL game was like slow motion. Everything in the Arena League is just so much faster and quicker and predicated on accuracy. Whenever Tim is willing, we have a contract waiting for him to sign."

It would be a neat story to have Tebow go back, find success in the Arena League and then make his way back to the NFL, but even the words Bouchy used are harkening back to one of Tebow’s biggest flaws as a passer.

He’s not an accurate passer.

While it's true that Kurt Warner went from flame out in the NFL to star in the Arena League, carrying the stardom back to the NFL and winning a Super Bowl and an MVP award, Tebow just isn't on the same level as a passer with Warner and it's doubtful he ever will be.

Most people tend to focus on Tebow’s laborious throwing motion as his critical flaw, and it’s one of them, but his biggest flaw is he’s not an accurate passer and he struggles to read the defense. Going to a lower level of competition, where the “speed of the game” is purportedly faster, isn’t necessarily going to help if he still has no idea what it is he’s seeing on the field.

The best bet for Tebow going forward is probably going to be biting the bullet and agreeing to change positions, giving up on playing quarterback in the NFL, but that’s easier said than done. That would require Tebow to admit his critics were right in saying that he couldn’t play at the highest level, but it would also actually give him a real NFL career outside of being a public relations gimmick.

But, the Predators are waiting.
