Miami Dolphins re-sign OL Nate Garner

Free agent offensive lineman Nate Garner has re-signed with the Miami Dolphins

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins re-signed offensive lineman Nate Garner according to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post. Garner has played at multiple positions along the line for the Dolphins over the years, starting four games at right tackle during the 2012 season.

Garner started a total of 13 games during his four seasons in Miami and will serve to add depth to the offensive line. With Jake Long headed to the Rams, Miami needs to rebuild in the trenches and Garner is just a start.

If the Dolphins don't make any big free agent signings to address their line, second-year man Jonathan Martin is expected to slide into the starting left tackle spot and Garner could compete for the starting right tackle job or serve as the top backup for multiple positions.

It is likely that the Dolphins will look to bring in another free agent as a starting tackle or address the issue with one of their top picks in the 2013 NFL Draft.
