Maurice Jones-Drew injury update: Jaguars RB will shed walking boot this week

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to remove his walking boot and begin rehab this week on his left foot.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Maurice Jones-Drew is going to get out of his walking boot and begin rehab on this left foot later this week according to Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley.

Jones-Drew injured his left foot on Oct. 21 against the Oakland Raiders and did not play again the rest of the season. He underwent surgery on Dec. 28 and was placed on injured reserve, officially ending his 2012 season. MJD was limited to just 414 yards and one touchdown on the ground in just over five games of action last year. He also added 14 receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown

MJD is entering the final year of his contract in 2013 and is scheduled to make $4.95 million. He held out to start the 2012 season, looking for an extension, but never got one. He will need to bounce back from the injury that ended his season and show he is still capable of being a top-level running back to earn himself a pay day.
