NFL schedule 2013 will be released April 16, according to report

The NFL will reportedly release its 2013 schedule on April 16.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL will release its 2013 schedule on Apr. 16, according to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal. Teams already know who they’re playing in the upcoming season, but the schedule has not been set.

NFL executives are still engaged in talks with the Baltimore Orioles regarding the league's season opener. The NFL has kicked its season off with the defending Super Bowl champions hosting a Thursday Night Football game in the past, but MLB's Orioles are scheduled to play host to the Chicago White Sox in Baltimore on that Thursday. If the Ravens and Orioles aren't able to come to some type of arrangement, the Ravens could be forced to open the season on the road, rather than at home.

The Ravens and Orioles share parking lots, which makes playing at the same time nearly impossible. The season will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 5.

NFL teams and fans will also get to see who is involved in the prime time games throughout the season when the schedule is released. ESPN’s Monday Night Football games are set and cannot be changed, unlike NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which begins its flex-scheduling in Week 11.
