NFL Draft 2013: Tank Carradine visits Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are looking at Florida State’s Tank Carradine. How would he fit in?

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

Florida State's Tank Carradine visited the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, according to the Baltimore Sun. The versatile defensive end is expected to convert to a rushing outside linebacker in the NFL, making him a fit for Baltimore's 3-4 defense.

Carradine is projected as a late first-round pick. SB Nation's Dan Kadar has him going at No. 28 to the Denver Broncos in his latest mock draft. With Elvis Dumervil's departure (to the Ravens), the Broncos may be looking to fill a void. The Ravens will have to cross their fingers on draft day if Carradine is their top choice.

The Ravens have suffered plenty of losses on defense in the offseason, especially at linebacker. Ray Lewis retired, Dannell Ellerbe is in Miami, and Paul Kruger went to Cleveland. Kruger is the person of interest pertaining to Carradine. He filled a rushing outside linebacker role in 2012, grabbing nine sacks.

Baltimore has since replaced Kruger by signing Dumervil, so it appears that Carradine would be sought after for a backup role. It wouldn't be a bad place for him, and he would likely still get playing time. Terrell Suggs struggled to stay healthy in 2012 and will be entering his 11th season.
