Richard Sherman says he was misquoted about Adderall use in NFL

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback says he was misquoted earlier this week and did not say that “about half” of the league takes Adderall.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman says he was misquoted by the Vancouver Sun earlier this week during an interview on NFL AM on Thursday morning, according to Pro Football Talk. On Wednesday it was reported that Sherman said "about half the league" takes Adderall.

Regarding the misquote, Sherman said on Thursday, “I didn’t say that. It’s just another case of these writers trying to gain a little notoriety in an interview. What I said was, ‘There’s a bunch of guys in the league on prescription for Adderall.’”

Despite the discrepancy, Sherman’s basic message is the same. “I’ve never seen people get prescribed a performance-enhancing drug, you know what I mean? So I don’t understand, you know, what everybody is so -- you know, they go so crazy about it when some of these guys test positive for it, but a bunch of guys have prescriptions for it, so it’s, like, you know, kind of misleading,” Sherman went on to explain.

Sherman successfully appealed a four-game suspension in 2012 after testing positive for Adderall and maintains that he has never taken the drug. Multiple NFL players have served suspensions resulting from positive Adderall tests, including Sherman's teammate, Brandon Browner.
