San Francisco 49ers defensive end Justin Smith has "no restrictions" following his surgery to repair his partially torn triceps in February, according to The Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows.
Justin Smith injury update: 49ers star has ‘no restrictions’ after surgery
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Justin Smith reportedly has no restrictions following surgery to repair his partially torn left triceps.

Smith tore his left triceps during San Francisco's thrilling Week 15 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football and returned to action in the playoffs -- to the surprise of many throughout the league. Smith, however, played poorly during the playoffs and Super Bowl, and San Francisco's pass rush was largely ineffective, especially against the Ravens.
49ers general manager Trent Baalke noted that Smith is back in the weight room and appears to be all systems go for the 2013 offseason and season.
Smith finished the 2012 season with 66 tackles, including three sacks. Smith’s sack production has dropped each of the last three seasons, recording 8.5 in 2010 and 7.5 in 2011.
The Bengals drafted Smith out of the University of Missouri with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2001 NFL Draft. Smith spent seven seasons with Cincinnati before signing with the 49ers prior to the 2008 season. Smith was named to the NFC's Pro Bowl roster on four occasions -- in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Smith was a first-team All Pro in 2011 with San Francisco.
With nearly a half a calendar year to go until Week 1, the 49ers will likely take it easy with Smith and ease him into minicamp and training camp activities. He will turn 34 during the 2013 season and is undoubtedly on the back end of his career -- though he’s proven to be very effective when healthy in recent years.
