NFL news roundup: Carson Palmer traded, MJD recovering and more

The trade officially signifies the end of Palmer's Raider's career and what turned out to be a disastrous acquisition for Oakland. The Raiders traded a first- and second-round pick to acquire the former Bengal in 2011. Oakland didn't recoup much value back as they traded Palmer and seventh-round pick to Arizona for a sixth-round pick and a conditional 2014 seventh-round pick. Either way, Oakland is moving on with Matt Flynn while Arizona has a new starting quarterback. Carson Palmer may not be the only quarterback on the move as a couple of backup quarterbacks could be close to joining new teams. Pat White has not played in the NFL since 2009, but he could be close to getting back into the league. White is reportedly "very likely" to sign with the Washington Redskins. The former second-round pick spent one season with the Miami Dolphins. He cancelled a scheduled visit with the New York Giants, a possible sign that a deal is near. Another potential backup quarterback could be on the move with free agent Tyler Thigpen the leading candidate to backup Russell Wilson in Seattle. The Seahawks are in the market for a backup after their trading former reserve QB, Matt Flynn, to Oakland on Monday. Thigpen spent the last two seasons as the backup in Buffalo. The Jacksonville Jaguars were among the busiest teams on Tuesday as they agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks while also hosting free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi for a visit. Marks should help bolster a Jacksonville defensive line that is currently thin on experience. Massaquoi could also bolster the Jags' depth currently with little at wide receiver behind Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III.

The Jaguars could also get a boost next season from the return of Maurice Jones-Drew. The starting tailback missed 10 games last season due to a foot injury. Jones-Drew could be on his way to joining the the Jaguars offseason activities, but Chiefs left tackle Brandon Albert isn't expected to participate in Kansas City's offseason workouts. After being franchised by the Chiefs earlier this offseason, Albert said he is staying away from offseason workouts until decisions have been made on his long-term future.
