Jake Locker injury update: Titans QB will be ready for June workouts

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker will join the Titans for June workouts as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery.

USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker is recovering from shoulder surgery and will take part in the Titans' June workouts according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. Locker dislocated his non-throwing shoulder twice in Sept. 2012, causing him to miss five games. He had surgery on the shoulder following the season.

Locker has been cleared to throw and “do everything but get hit” according to Wyatt and is on pace to be fully ready before the start of training camp. Last season Locker started 11 games for the Titans and threw for 2,176 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 56.4 percent of his passes; he also ran 41 times for 291 yards and a touchdown.

The Titans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to back up Locker this offseason and replace him should he fail to show improvement in his third NFL season. Tennessee will also likely make more use of Locker's running ability in 2013 with the success of mobile quarterbacks around the league.
