Wide receiver Victor Cruz has yet to show up for the offseason workout program of the New York Giants, as the two sides continue to work on a long-term deal that would keep Cruz with the team that drafted him. According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants have already made Cruz an offer that would make him the second-highest paid player on the team, behind only Eli Manning.

A deal worth $8 million per year with $15-18 million in guarantees might sound like a great deal for the receiver, but they're still negotiating so it might mean that Cruz hopes for more. That's unsurprising, considering $8 million per year wouldn't be enough to have Cruz even rank in the top-ten highest paid players at the wide receiver position and would be less than half the amount that Calvin Johnson makes per season.
Any bigger of a deal, though, and the Giants might be unable to front the bill, as they have just under $4 million in cap space, according to the most recent report from the NFLPA, which puts them in the bottom half of the league.
Cruz, 26, was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2012 after finishing a second-consecutive season with more than 1,000 yards receiving. In two years in the lineup, Cruz has accumulated 2,628 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns.
