Branden Albert trade rumors: Chiefs, Dolphins deal ‘cold’

A trade that would send offensive lineman Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins is still “cold,” according to reports.

The trade that would have sent Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert to the Miami Dolphins doesn't look like it's going to go down before Friday evening's second round as the deal is "cold," according to Chris Mortensen.

The Chiefs took the best overall offensive lineman in the draft, Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher, and the Dolphins traded up to the third overall pick where they were expected to take Lane Johnson, but selected Oregon outside linebacker Dion Jordan instead. The Dolphins still need help on the offensive line, though.

The Dolphins lost Jake Long in free agency to the St. Louis Rams and are in need of someone to replace him. The Dolphins don't have another pick until the 24th pick in the second round and some of the better remaining tackles, including Menelik Watson, will likely be gone.

If a trade for Albert does come, it may come during the draft, in exchange for picks, or after. There are also some other offensive tackles who remain on the free agent market, including former first-round pick Andre Smith.
