The meniscus tear suffered by Detroit Lions second-round pick Darius Slay is apparently a minor one. So much so, that Slay is expected to participate in the team's rookie minicamp next week, according to Anwar Richardson of MLive.com.

Despite a meniscus injury, the Lions second-rounder says he feels healthy.

The three-day minicamp beginning on May 10 will not feature contact drills, but teams typically play it safe with injured players. While Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said that he expects Slay to be a participant, the former-Mississippi State cornerback wasn’t as definitive about the possibility, although he told Richardson that he feels healthy.
“Right now, I’ve had like two individual workouts after my meniscus,” Slay said. “So, I mean, I feel pretty good. I feel fluent. I’m moving good when I turn, no problem. I feel pretty healthy right now.”
With the Lions, Slay joins a team that finished with the sixth-most points allowed in the NFL and a disappointing 4-12 record after multiple injuries slowed the team down and factored in to an eight-game losing streak to end the year. Slay was selected with the fourth selection of the second round and was the fifth cornerback off the board.
Slay finished the 2012 season with five interceptions for Mississippi State and was drafted ahead of All-American teammate Johnthan Banks, who went seven picks later.
