Lucas Oil Field will receive a $2 million suite expansion from the city of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Star reports.

The $2 million upgrade will be used to build two more luxury suites and an additional two kitchens.

Supporters of the measure believe that the additional suites will benefit the city in multiple ways. The additional suites and kitchens will boost the stadium's capacity both for Colts games and for non-football events, which results in extra tax revenue for the city.

Lucas Oil Stadium’s current attendance capacity for Colts games is 62,421, and is expandable to 70,000 for certain events -- including the Super Bowl. Lucas Oil Stadium can expand its capacity to over 70,000 for events such as the Final Four.

The Colts also dropped their opposition to an increase in admission tax, which rose from 6 percent to 10 percent for tickets to Colts games.

Lucas Oil Stadium opened on Aug. 16, 2008, replacing the RCA Dome.
