Daryl Washington involved in domestic dispute, according to report

The police are looking for the Arizona Cardinals linebacker, who is already suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season.

USA TODAY Sports

Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington is being sought by Phoenix police as a suspect after they responded to a domestic dispute call on Wednesday night, according to a report from ArizonaSports.com.

A woman reportedly told police that she was the victim following an altercation with Washington at a home in the Phoenix village of Ahwatukee. There were obvious signs that the victim was physically harmed when police arrived, sources said in the ArizonaSports.com report. Washington had already left the residence by the time they got there.

As Revenge of the Birds writes on the still-developing situation, Washington, already suspended for the first four games of the upcoming 2013 campaign after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, could be putting his future on shaky footing:

If the report proves to be true, it could put him in danger of further disciplinary action by the NFL under their personal conduct policy.

Washington signed a big contract extension in 2012 that keeps him a Cardinal through 2017. However, his future with the team will not be a sure thing if these prove to be more than just accusations.

Washington inked a six-year, $32.5 million contract extension with the Cardinals before the start of the 2012 season. He followed up the signing by posting 134 combined tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception last year, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl as an alternate.

No arrests have been made as of now by Phoenix police, who are still seeking out Washington for questioning.
