After two surgeries on the same day this offseason, Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen is nearing 100 percent, working out without setbacks in preparation for the 2013 season.
Jared Allen injury: Vikings DE says he has 95 pecent movement in repaired shoulder
The Vikings defensive end is close to being able to train full-bore this offseason.

In an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Wednesday night (via ProFootballTalk), Allen said that following surgeries on a knee and to fix a torn labrum in his shoulder, he is training unencumbered this offseason. So far, Allen said that around 95 percent of his repaired shoulder’s range of motion has returned.
This will be an important season for Allen to be healthy, as it’s the final year of his six-year, $73.2 million deal signed with the Vikings in 2008. In the interview, Allen says he’s only focusing on the upcoming season in Minnesota for the time being:
“I’m a Viking this year, I’m gonna go out play my heart out and try to win a Super Bowl. I always look at chips fall where they may. My motto is if I take care of my job on the field the rest will take care of itself.”
As a Viking thus far, Allen has certainly taken care of his job, which is mostly to torment opposing quarterbacks. In 2012, he logged double-digit sacks for the sixth consecutive season, with 12. He also added 45 combined tackles, one forced fumble and three passes defensed. Over his five-year stint in Minnesota, Allen has recorded 74 total sacks as the constant focal point of offensive lines and blocking schemes. Now nearing full health, Allen could be primed for a monster contract season.
