John Abraham meeting with Titans, according to report

Potentially seeking more pass-rushing help, Tennessee is hosting the former Falcon.

US PRESSWIRE

Free agent defensive end John Abraham is meeting with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday and Friday, according to a report from Jim Wyatt, the team's beat writer for The Tennessean.

Abraham, the 13-year veteran, spent his last seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before getting released on March 1. In four of those seven seasons, Abraham recorded double-digit sacks, including 10 last season. He also added six forced fumbles, seven passes defensed and 35 combined tackles in 2012.

As Wyatt writes, the Titans did not appear interested in Abraham's services before the NFL Draft. But now, probably with a better idea of how their roster is shaping up, they are giving him a look. Tennessee also addressed the position in the draft when they selected LSU Tigers defensive end Lavar Edwards in the fifth round.

In 2012, the Titans tied for ninth in the NFL in total sacks with 39. A balanced pass rush was led by defensive end Derrick Morgan's 6.5 sacks, with defensive end Kamerion Wimbley and linebacker Akeem Ayers close behind with six apiece. Linebacker Zach Brown also added 5.5 sacks of his own.
