Marshawn Lynch skips Seahawks OTAs for personal workouts

The three-time Pro Bowl selection is working out personally in the Bay Area.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was absent from the team's organized team activities on Monday, but it's nothing to be concerned about, as Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that he is instead doing personal workouts in the Bay Area. Head coach Pete Carroll wasn't concerned about Lynch's absence, per Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com:

“This is voluntary,” Carroll said via The Seattle Times. “That’s the rules and the guidelines. He came in 10 days ago and he’s in very good shape. He’s working an intense program in his area, and he is benefiting from it. We’d love to see everybody here.”

Lynch, 27, has attended OTAs in the past, but the Oakland, Calif.-native and former California Golden Bear is back in his hometown instead. He also has an upcoming DUI trial, scheduled for June 21, although he may be able to have the case dismissed on Wednesday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

In six seasons since he was selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Lynch has accumulated 6,132 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns. In 2012 he earned his first All-Pro selection with a career-best 1,590 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
