Charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in July 2012, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was in Alameda County District Court on Wednesday as a motion to suppress evidence in the case was continued to Friday, July 5, according to a report from Eric Williams of The News Tribune.

A new motion pushes Lynch’s case to July, almost a full year after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the report, Teresa Drenick, assistant district attorney for the Alameda County District Attorney’s office, noted that no court date has been locked in yet. A motion to suppress is a request that specific evidence be left out of the official case presented to the judge and jury come trial time.
Lynch was arrested on July 14 last year after swerving between lanes while driving a white van on Interstate 880 in Oakland. Lynch failed a sobriety test. Then, after getting taken into custody, submitted a breathalyzer test that was over the state of California’s 0.08 legal limit.
He was officially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by the Alameda County District Attorney’s office a few days later. In August 2012, according to the report, Lynch pleaded not guilty.
Becoming the focal point of Seattle’s rushing attack over the last two seasons, Lynch finished the 2012 regular season third in the league with 1,590 rushing yards. He scored 11 touchdowns on the ground. This followed a 2011 campaign in which Lynch piled up 1,204 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns.
He was named to the Associated Press’s NFL All-Pro first team in 2012.
