Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Donald Penn has disputed reports that he has failed to make weight, reports Pro Football Talk. Responding to an earlier report that he had failed to meet the weight clauses in his contract, Penn gave a colorful retort via Twitter and insisted that he was 330 pounds, "in the best shape that [he's] been in a long time," and made all of his weight clauses in the 2012 season.

Buccaneers blog Bucs Nation has the tweets as well as some insight on how Penn played last year, concluding that despite his defense that he gave up only four sacks in 2012, “if you look at the tape it is obvious [Penn] didn’t play his best football last season.” Penn and the rest of the Tampa Bay offensive gave up 26 sacks last season, tying them for third fewest in the league.
2013 will be Penn's sixth year in the NFL. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings and was signed by Tampa Bay from Minnesota's practice squad. Despite humble beginnings, he has started all but four of his 96 career games.
