NFL news roundup: Dwight Freeney calls collusion on NFL owners; is Tim Tebow’s career over?

Friday around the NFL brought us accusations of collusion, different sorts of updates on Titus Young and Tim Tebow, a found dog and more.

Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

New San Diego Chargers defensive end Dwight Freeney accused the NFL's owners of colluding to extend only cheap contract offers to free agents like himself. The NFL Players Association also got involved, sending out a memo to player agents to keep an eye out for such things. The league denied collusion of any sort.

And here’s a look at what else is going on in the NFL:

Titus Young reportedly turned down the NFL’s help

A person close to the former Detroit Lions wide receiver went to the NFL last year with concerns about Young, and when the league offered help he declined their offers on multiple occasions. This was before he was released by the Lions for fighting with a teammate this offseason and also before he was arrested three times -- twice in the span of 15 hours. Young is currently in jail on charges of attempted burglary, burglary and assaulting police officers. He potentially faces 10 years in prison.

People close to Tim Tebow think his NFL career could be over

After being let go by the New York Jets this offseason, some folks in Camp Tebow are apparently beginning to think his time in the league is nearing its end. There hasn't been much interest from teams around the league, but it would certainly be a record-screeching end to the career of one of the most talked about players in the NFL over the last few seasons.

Bears TE Evan Rodriguez arrested for DUI

Here’s Steven Schweickert of Windy City Gridiron on the news:

Evan Rodriguez is one of those guys that was projected to have a much bigger role in the 2013 offense under Marc Trestman, but his second arrest since the offseason began might be starting to put his roster spot in jeopardy.

After his first arrest in March, prosecutors eventually dropped the charges, but Phil Emery had expressed disappointment and said that Rodriguez was “re-educated on [his] expectations.” So far, apparently it didn’t take - especially since one of the reasons Rodriguez fell in the draft was because of off-field incidents.

Rams RB Isaiah Pead suspended for Week 1

From Turf Show Times, Ryan Van Bibber details the news for Pead and St. Louis:

The details of Pead's suspension are unknown, and they probably will stay that way. He is eligible to return to the active roster the day after the Rams' Week 1 game. He will also be allowed to workout with the team in training camp. Worth noting, this is NOT a PED suspension.

As far as things keeping players off the field go, a one-game suspension is relatively minor. However, it comes as a big blow to a player who has a lot of ground to make up after a disappointing rookie season. Pead got behind the learning curve last year because the league's rules preventing players from attending spring practices until their school holds its graduation. That helped give fellow rookie Daryl Richardson a window to claim the No. 2 running back role behind Steven Jackson.

Deion Sanders gets his dog back

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Congrats, Deion!
