Questions about the 2014 Super Bowl in New York have revolved around the weather. The city is embracing the possibility of snow in the recently revealed plans for the festivities surrounding the event. On Tuesday, the New York Daily News revealed the NFL’s plans for “Super Bowl Boulevard,” a football-themed winter extravaganza that will be held between 34th and 44th streets.

“Super Bowl Boulevard” will feature a 58-foot high toboggan run on Broadway.

With the game scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2, Broadway will feature an eight-lane, 180-foot long, 58-foot high toboggan run from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1. The toboggan run will be capable of handling up to 1,000 riders per hour.
Other features from the “Super Bowl Boulevard” will include a video mapping show in Herald Square and the Vince Lombardi Trophy on display between 41st and 42nd streets.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be the first time that a cold-weather region has hosted the game in an outdoor stadium, although the 1967 NFL Championship Game was hosted at Lambeau Field and is now commonly referred to as “The Ice Bowl.” Super Bowl I was held 15 days later in Los Angeles, California.
