Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie hasn't given up on his NFL dream, although many teams are shying away from him after multiple concussions and injuries derailed his career with the team that drafted him. His opportunities haven't run dry, though, as the New England Patriots hosted Collie for a workout, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.
NFL rumors: Austin Collie works out for Patriots
Collie said earlier in June that he’d be willing to sign a waiver to play for a team.

Collie, 27, has a lengthy concussion history that he accrued in his first three seasons in the NFL, but it was a torn patella tendon that ended his 2012 season after he recorded just one reception for six yards. Nearly nine months removed from the injury, Collie told Mike Garafolo of USA Today that his knee feels “phenomenal” now and he even said that he’d be willing to sign a waiver to persuade a team to take a chance with his head injuries.
A fourth-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, Collie accumulated 173 receptions for 1,845 yards and 16 touchdowns in four seasons with the Colts before his rookie contract was allowed to expire.
The Patriots will have a different looking receiver corps in 2013 after signing Danny Amendola and Donald Jones in free agency and drafting Aaron Dobson in the second round and Josh Boyce in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Also considered a "roster lock" by Greg Knopping of Pats Pulpit, is Matthew Slater, the Patriots' special teams ace.
